Database of the Inmates of the Subcamps of the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp in the Czech Territory

Author: Miroslava Langhamerová

Two dozen larger and smaller labor commandos and subcamps were established by the Flossenbürg concentration camp in the Czech territory, primarily in the border regions, in the years 1942-1945. The largest of them was Litoměřice (Leitmeritz) which has a separate database called “Concentration Camp Litoměřice 1944-1945“. We have merged data on the former inmates from the other labor commandos and subcamps of the concentration camps (“Aussenkommando”, “Aussenlager”) into a single file which currently contains more than 8 300 recorded names.

In this searcher we give access to information on the former inmates from the following labor commandos and branches of concentration camps: Brüx-Seestadtl (Most-Ervěnice), Eisenberg (Jezeří), Falkenau (Sokolov), Graslitz (Kraslice), Hertine (Rtyně), Holleischen (Holýšov), Hradischko (Hradištko), Janowitz (Vrchotovy Janovice), Lobositz (Lovosice), “Radio Lobositz”, Neu Rohlau (Nová Role), Poschetzau (Božíčany), Rabstein (Rabštejn), Schlackenwerth (Ostrov), St. Georgenthal (Jiřetín pod Jedlovou), Steinschönau (Kamenický Šenov), Zwodau (Svatava).

We have also included into the file the detached labor commando of the Litoměřice Camp located in Lovosice called “Leitmeritz (Litoměřice)-Unterkommando Lobositz (Lovosice)”.

The so called female branches, established by the concentration camp Ravensbrück (Holýšov, Kraslice, Nová Role and Svatava), were administratively taken over by the concentration camp Flossenbürg on September 1, 1944. Their female inmates physically present on that date were entered into the Flossenbürg register and were given new registration numbers. Creation of such a file was preceded by analytical work lasting several years and involving comparison of historical sources from the concentration camps Auschwitz, Dachau, Flossenbürg, Gross-Rosen, Ravensbrück, Sachsenhausen and other concentration camps, data which are deposited in the archives of the Czech Republic and other countries. In the following stage the file will be supplemented with newly obtained data.

In order to find a particular name, it is sufficient to use the root of the required word.
