Memorial meeting - candle march

The Terezín Memorial invites you to a commemorative meeting - a candlelight march on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

This day is commemorated around the world on January 27, the day of the liberation of the concentration and extermination camp in Auschwitz, Poland. We would like to commemorate this day with you in Terezín, which is a symbol of the Holocaust in the Czech Republic and therefore a natural place for such an event.

The meeting for the participants will be on Saturday, January 27 at 5 p.m. at the memorial plaque by the former siding, along which tens of thousands left on their last journey to their tragic end. We will continue with candles to the Terezín Jewish Cemetery, where tens of thousands of victims of the Terezín ghetto were buried and then cremated in the nearby crematorium. Here you will be able to listen to a commemorative speech and the event will end with a short musical performance.

We will have candles for all participants. If you are going to arrive by car, you can use the nearby Terezín Memorial parking lot, it is located halfway between the memorial plaque, where the event will start, and the area of the Jewish Cemetery in Terezín.

The event is being held with the participation of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Vera Jourova.

The part of the program at the Jewish cemetery will begin according to Jewish traditions after the end of Shabbat at 17:32.

We look forward to you coming to Terezín to commemorate this important day with us.
