Exhibition of works sent to the Terezin Memorial art competition - Hana Greenfield Memorial

6/6/24 @ 13:00 - 31/8/24, 0 Foyer of the cinema in the Ghetto Museum

Art exhibition - works sent to XXVIII. annual art competition - Hana Greenfield Memorial

The theme of this year's competition was "The first thing I will do after the war will be..."

Motto: "Returning to Prague was my greatest wish." - Helga Weissová - Hošková (former prisoner of the Terezín ghetto)

Whether such thoughts related to returning home, acquiring something long denied, studying, revenge, reuniting with family or friends, they always helped the prisoners survive the difficult times of their stay in the Terezín Ghetto, in the Terezín Small Fortress and in other places that used by the Nazis to imprison, torture and murder people. Unfortunately, even today, many people are interned and tortured in various parts of the world, despite the declared human rights. And similar thoughts certainly help them see through the next day.

The participants of the competition, divided into three age categories, had to think about the questions: What thought would keep you alive if you were unjustly imprisoned? What would help you survive similar hardships? What would be the first thing you would do when you were released?

The exhibition presents the most successful works of art.
