All Doors of Terezín / Theresienstadt or the city and its double

12/9/25 @ 18:00 - 4/10/25, 0 Cultural House Terezín

Artistic projection of all the doors of Terezín on the Czechoslovak Army Square in Terezín

Two Berlin artists - Clara Taborda and Peter Baer are implementing their art project in Terezín, in which they photographed all the doors / gates of Terezín.

September 12 to October 4, 2025 - daily (except Sundays) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

On the main square (Náměstí Čs. Armády) in Terezín, Czech Republic

Initially, their intention was to deal with the phenomenon of Terezín, with a special focus on the period of the Nazi concentration camp / ghetto for Jews from 1941 to 1945.

The artistic approach consists in trying to give form to absence - to pronounce the "unspeakable".

To this end, they photographed all the entrance doors of the city in their entirety and with archival precision, because no such archive has ever existed before. From the outside, without people and without cars, with the doors usually closed. The door represents the house, all the houses represent the city, and the city represents the society we live in.

The resulting photographic archive material appears in two forms:

  • first, unfolding in time – upcoming screenings (September - October 2025);
  • second, gathered in space – as an installation of postcards in the Small Fortress of Terezín (in 2026, more details to follow).

In both cases, all the doors appear without selection, in line with the Hegelian idea that the whole is the truth.

The Terezín Memorial has been working with the artists on the project from the very beginning, helping, for example, with communication with the residents during the photography, and their representative will also be present at the upcoming screening and will be ready at the information table near the screening to answer any questions from the audience. He will also be ready to provide historical information on specific doors and houses from the ghetto era.

We cordially invite you!
